DAMPYR

More than 120 issues, available to date (monthly).
16X21 cm, 96 pgs, b/w

What is the mystery surrounding the birth of Harlan Draka? Who is his father? Why has he always felt different from other guys, who used to call him "the Devil's son" and "blood of spells"? It is during a war that Harlan discovers his true nature. By coming face to face with horror, he discovers he is a Dampyr (or rather, the only Dampyr existing on our planet), and little by little he learns to avail himself of his extraordinary powers, which turn out to be of crucial importance in his struggle against the terrible Maestri della Notte, a family of super-predators each of which has its own hunting grounds and its own pack of non-dead, human beings transformed into vampires and reduced to slavery. This most recent Bonellian series, with subject and script by Mauro Boselli and Maurizio Colombo, seeks to evoke the dark, brooding horror story atmosphere, laced with magic and the supernatural, but blended with the harsh swift pace of modern action cinema. Shivers down the spine and a pounding heartbeat are definitely in store for those who choose to follow Harlan's adventures.

A couple of years later he took over the beginning of "The Second American Odyssey" and "L'Esploratore scomparso" (drawings by Marcello). In 1994, with "Il passato di Carson" he officially joined the Tex series which he now shares with Claudio Nizzi. He has also written for The Adventures of Mister No, Il Piccolo Ranger and Dylan Dog. Later, he worked on three editions of Dylan Dog Horror Fest and drew up several of the entries for "35 Millimeters of Fear", a book devoted to international film fiction. He has worked for Sergio Bonelli since 1992. After having written some books linked to special albums, and providing ideas for Nick Raider (such as "Città crudele" and "Immagine di Morte"), he joined the editorial staff of the Almanacs, for which he wrote various texts. He has written the scripts of some of the episodes of Zagor (such as "La pura corre sul fiume" and "Una pallottola per Kelso"), a series where he has been of real help to the editor Boselli, and also of Mister No (two titles out of many being "Uno straniero a Redencion" and "C'era una volta a New York").
